Zen Yoga for Reduced Stress Levels

Let’s face it, we are living in high stress times with the ongoing war and a recession that almost matches the one of the Great Depression.  Add increasing unemployment levels to the lot, and we can all agree that we are living a high stress nightmare that can only bring ill health with it as well.

Unfortunately, increased stress levels usually make out bodies ill; sometimes without us even realizing it until it’s too late.  A few years ago, I was running my own company and took on the task of becoming a property manager of almost 20 units.  Needless to say, the stress got to me and I almost ended up in the hospital.  I visited an Asian Acupuncture specialist who warned me that the stress would make me sick, but I was a non believer at the time.

These days, when I feel my stress levels are elevated, I turn to Zen Yoga for help.  Zen yoga is different from traditional yoga in the terms of it being very gentle and it being well suited to helping people prevent ill health.  Zen yoga poses combine traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine.  The postures are designed to channel energy, instead of blood flow.

When you understand how important energy is in Oriental philosophy, you will then understand why diseas and ilness feels the way it does inside our bodies.  Instead of focusing on the symptom itself, Oriental diagnosis looks at what is going on in the meridians, and a healing approach is based on this, instead of a rigidly defined solution for a set of symptoms.

Now if you are slightly confused by the above, no need to fret.  Try some of the harder postures first, then move on to an easy one.  Go back and forth, all the while monitoring the way your body feels during and after Zen Yoga.  Zen yoga reduced my stress levels and gave me my life back. I’ve never felt more healthy or energetic.
